Web Presence is not a website. A company or a person has a “Web Presence” when someone whom does not know them, can easily find them, their product or service.

A website in itself has very little value, especially if it cannot be found organically. Organic search means you do not buy links in the search engines. Also for other than the largest brand names, most new customers do not know you or your company, thus they are not searching using your name.

Being relevant is defined in this context as having more original subject content, even better is having original user generated content (UGC). Anyone can make a website. You can talk about your products all you wish, but people know you have a vested self interest, thus your promotion is in question. However when a 3rd party, someone whom does not have a vested interest, says something about you or your product, this is very valuable information. The Social Networks must be part of your strategy in building a Web Presence. UGC is born in the Social Networks.

The right keywords may seem simple. But they are not. Often the searcher, whom does not know you, your product or industry, is using terms that you as an industry insider would not. Thus you must capture the thoughts of those that you do not know and use those terms or phrases as keywords in the site. This takes research.
